VMware Workstation 10 Adds Windows 8.1 Support, Includes Virtual Tablet Sensors

VMware has announced the release of its virtualization software, VMware Workstation 10 ($249, $119 upgrade) in addition to VMware Fusion 6.0 and VMware Player 6.0. VMware Workstation 10 may prove to be the best means to trial of the forthcoming Windows 8.1. The latest Linux distributions as well as the Windows 8.1 has been upgraded with the regular Easy Install feature thus automating the installation process and physical Windows 8.1 systems can be converted into virtual machines in a few clicks.

Some of its Key Features are:
  1. Workstation 10 consists of “the first-ever virtual accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and ambient light sensor" which implies that the applications which run in a virtual machine can act in response to the feedback from their tablet sensors.
  2. It consists of an extended hardware options which implies that the virtual machines can possess virtual CPUs, 64GB of RAM, up to 8TB disks, SSD pass-through and twice as many virtual networks.
  3. Again, it consists of a new SATA controller which may help the VM performance by supporting USB 3 streams. The virtual machine will automatically be terminated at a given time and date, and it can be restarted only with aid of an administrator.
VMware Workstation 10 is made available at $249. But if Workstation 9 (Full or Upgrade) is purchased on or after August 1st 2013, up to September 30th 2013, electronic upgrade will be permitted for free. Electronic upgrades from Workstation 8.x and 9.x are also available at $119 with 30 days trial to try out the new release first.
