After enjoying a
decade of long unchallenged journey as a leader of the country roads, Toyota
Innova is going to face a serious threatening on Indian roads in the form of
Honda’s new MPV Mobilio. Honda launched the new vehicle in Indonesian markets
but the Indian launch will happen only in the next year. Honda designed the
seven seater MPV Mobilio in the base platform which the Brio possess.
The new Honda Mobilio
( Honda marked it with the codename2NH) has a length of 4.4 meter for its
platform, wheelbase comes to 2.6 meters which will help Mobilio to attain a
better ground clearance of 185mm. In the first sight Mobilio resembles an
extended version of Brio but it stands more closer to Amaze which is also built
up in the same Brio platform.
Design wise Honda
gives an aggressive look to the new model with sporty bumper, large wheel
arches and floating spoiler. It is expected that Honda will give the same
diesel engine which is mounted with Amaze to Mobilio which is a 1.5 litre i-DTEC
diesel engine that will deliver 116 bhp power and a torque of 205 Nm. For the
petrol variant it will be gifted with 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine which is
already a part of the Honda City. Honda
claims that Mobilio will give an unmatched fuel economy in the country roads
along with manual transmission system. In Indonesian model Honda has managed to
figure out 17.2 fuel efficiency for the gasoline engine.
Honda not revealed
much facts about how the interiors look like but we can assume from the pictures
that it will much in line with the interiors of Honda Amaze and beige finish
will be the predominant colour. As it has a better length for the platform the
same spacious feature can be enjoyed in the Mobilio’s interior too. There will
be more leg room and most probably the third will be in a foldable mode which
can be utilized for children or can turn out for carry luggage. It is expected
that Honda will fit Mobilio with sophisticated electronic systems including
integrated music player. On the topic of safety it will carry airbags and
ABS-EBD features will be a part of the equipment in the higher models.
The Honda Mobilio is
expected to be a budget MPV and once it is launched in India it will compete
with Chevrolet Enjoy, Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova will also face high
competition from the newcomer. Honda tries to give a competent pricing for the
new vehicle and in this movement they are contributing Mobilio’s several
elements with their other models.
We can expect Honda
Mobilio on Indian roads by next April. It is assumed that Honda will retain the
model in the budget segment and the price for the petrol model is expected to
be around Rs. 6.50 lakh and for the diesel model it will cost around Rs. 9
lakh.
